Do you want an EV charger in your street – tell us where? – North Lincolnshire Council (northlincs.gov.uk) Thirty-five new electric vehicle charging points are to be installed on streets across North Lincolnshire with Government cash to further enhance the strategic green network. The locations of the new chargers have not been set and the council would like to hear from residents who have electric or hybrid vehicles or are considering buying one but do not have access to off-street parking.

Do you know an exceptional person within the local community who should receive recognition for their community work or actions?

Barton Upon Humber Town Award 2023

Barton Upon Humber Town Council’s Town Award for 2023 will continue with a Young Person’s award (under 18) as well as the usual Town Award.  The Award is presented annually to a resident within the community for work or action of merit.  This will be a small thank you to the people who have helped our community or members of it, without expectation of reward or thanks.  All nominees will recieve a certificate and the winner will receive a silver cup to be held for one year, together with a certificate and keepsake, the award will be presented by the Mayor of Barton Upon Humber, socially distanced.

Last year’s winner was Mr Adrian Ellis who was nominated for creating the group Get Emotions Out (GEO), promoting Mental Health and working tirelessly in both Barton and Hull, to support serving and former service men talk about their feelings among people who understand them outstanding voluntary work especially within the education sector and her support within the community.

Nominations for both categories from anyone who knows of a person they think deserves recognition. The nominated person must live in the town or work voluntary with a Barton Upon Humber organisation/group to be eligible and can not be a Town Councillor or Officer.  If you know someone, who has served the community in some way, for example:

Service within an organisation for many years,

Action over and above the call of duty,

Helping the aged, or infirm,

Guiding and helping youth and children,

Actions of courage, or,

Any relevant contribution to our community or persons within it.

Please complete the form attached, or send a letter giving reasons for nomination.

Advertise in March 2023 – The Bartonian

Would you like to advertise your business, an event or share some information with the residents in your local community? This is the perfect opportunity to publicise any of your planned Coronation Celebration Events too….

The next issue of The Barton Town Council publication The Bartonian is now in production. The Bartonian is the place to find out about local news and events is delivered to over five thousand households by a team of volunteers. The changes have resulted in positive feedback and we are confident that it is well read by Barton residents.

The next issue will be delivered to Barton households from early March 2023, if you are planning to send an article could we have your copy by Thursday 23 February 2023, 5pm at the latest allowing time for preparations for this issue. All submissions must be sent as a text only word document with any images in separate files with the file size no less than 1MB to ensure good resolution. With a free article we cannot guarantee what is included, the design team look at what space is left after the main articles and adverts go in then it’s down to size. We leave it to the designer who is independent, doesn’t have any affiliation to any groups to decide what is included, it is purely done on layout.

If you wish to send a mock up pdf in addition to the material it will be sent to the designer as a guide only. Violence Against Women and Girls Conference – 15th March 2023

Violence Against Women and Girls Conference, by North Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership – 15th March 2023, The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe. This conference is aimed at anyone aged 16+. Residents, key community members, any businesses, and professionals at all levels, especially those on the ground and in our communities.

Guest speakers will include Dr Jessica Taylor, updating on the VAWG Humber Survey. PCC Katy Bourne will speak on her lived experience of stalking and the work she has done to protect future victims. A Networking lunch will be provided after the event.

Fostering Virtual Information Event

North Lincolnshire Council Fostering Team are hosting a Virtual Information evening on Wednesday 25th January 6:30 – 8pm and we would love you to join, free of charge.


During the evening they will discuss all things fostering, with content delivered by their recruitment team as well as some of their experienced Foster Carers. You would be welcome to ask any questions you might have and hear honest answers from those who have personal experience.

New “Energy Bills Discount Scheme” for businesses announced

On 9 January 2023 the government announced a new energy scheme for businesses, charities, and the public sector, ahead of the current scheme ending in March.

The scheme will mean that all eligible UK businesses and other non-domestic energy users will receive a discount on high energy bills until 31 March 2024. For more information, please visit the Invest In North Lincolnshire Website.
