A warm welcome to the Barton-upon-Humber Town Council website which I hope you will find both informative and helpful.
I am delighted and honoured to serve as Mayor of this great town, having been born on Brigg Road and lived in Barton all my life. We have a town to be proud of, with a rich history, and a vibrant community spirit. Barton is a great place in which to live, work, shop or socialise, and we welcome many visitors who love the heritage, nature and events that we have to offer.
The Town Council is proud to support many of the organisations in the town, who work hard to enhance the lives of residents and visitors alike. We work to improve our environment, and provide the hanging basket displays around the town each summer. We have also provided a number of public benches in the town and along the Humber bank.
We consider all planning applications very carefully, and submit our views and comments to North Lincolnshire Council. We’re always keen to hear everyone’s views on any aspect of life in Barton.
During my term as Mayor I have attended many events in Barton and across the area, and have been very impressed with the hard work of our voluntary groups, schools and other organisations we have. If you have an event that you would like the Mayor to attend, please contact the Town Council Office, and I will do my best to attend. My chosen charity is The Samaritans, the town has very strong emotional links to the organisation as it’s founder Chad Varah was born on Beck Hill, and I am delighted that the Chad Varah Memorial Garden has been established in Baysgarth Park.
If you have any issues or concerns about the town please do not hesitate to contact me or another member of the Council or, better still, come along to one of our council meetings, we would be delighted to see you.
Cllr Nigel Pinchbeck
